Meet The Makers – Little Sandbox
Only a couple of days to Liverpool MakeFest now and here’s the final podcast I can squeeze in before the big day. Our first repeat guest on the show as I went to see Little Sandbox but this time at their new home of Norris Green Library in Liverpool.
I spoke to the project organisers Helen, Chris and Snoof about what they do, the impact it has and how things have changed since last year when I interviewed them for season 1. The new location is much bigger as you’ll be able to see from the photo. It’s all accessible and the resources the library provide are fantastic.
I stayed for the club to meet some of the parents and kids who take part. You’ll be able to hear some short interviews with them as well. Firstly I spoke to Sarah who’s son attends the club. Then I chatted with Owen who’s a regular at Little Sandbox and a budding inventor! Trust me he’s got some great ideas, he’s already invented 3 robots. Finally I also chatted with Sue, another of the parents about why she likes the club and what her son gets from it.
The project is doing great things and just being their for a couple of hours I could see how much work and dedication it takes from all involved. The kids love it though and are learning things, playing and making friends in a safe friendly environment.
If you have a child you think might enjoy the club then find out more at the website and there’s the workshop for adults too. So it’s all just for kids.
Come along to Liverpool MakeFest and meet the Little Sandbox gang for yourself on June 29th 2019!! Get your tickets now.
It’s going to be EPIC!
